Down and dirty…with a bar of soap

Hey Hey Hey,

I knew this day would come, the day we run out of the vegetarian English supplies from the day we left Brighton, England.  Before my husband made the big move to NYC we packed a whole supply of his vegetarian needs, such as soap, tooth paste, and other necessities.  We only did this because I wasn’t sure if there were places where I could find vegetarian soap…that actually said suitable for vegetarians.  And I was right, they don’t say that.

But have no fear, these lovely soap bars just say 100% vegetable oil or something of that sort.  Thank goodness too, because summer time is coming and we don’t want to walk around with the stench of sweaty…well sweaty anything.

Apparently the lovely shops that I buy my grocery needs cater to selling Vegetarian soap.  Such as Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Gracefully.  But if you are lazy like me you can just go to your corner drug shop like Duane Reade, Rite Aid, and CVS.    I promise that wherever you live in Manhattan there has to be one of these stores around the corner.

Theses are just the Duane Reade Locations.

If you want to pinch a penny, then I suggest buying Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Oil, which costs $1.99.

However, these are some brands you can find Duane Reade:

1. Prevail [Several assortments of scents.]

2. Eco Store [Body soap liquid and bar.]

3. Yardley Natural Soap [Certain types.]

4. Olivella [body soap bar, body scrubs, lotion, and liquid body soap.]

5. St. Ives [liquid soap.]

Some Brands from CVS:

1. Dr. Bronner’s All-One Hemp Eucalyptus Pure-Castile Soap

2. Yardley Natural Soap Honeysuckle Citrus

3. Tom’s of Maine Moisturizing Body Bar Lavender

*For more Soap brands, just type in soap in the CVS search bar and read the descriptions.  If it doesn’t say animal ingredients not used or 100% vegetable oil, then most likely it is not vegetarian.

These soap products can range from $3-$6, depending on whether you want a pack, bar, liquid, or body scrubs.  But these are not the only brands you can buy, there are several more.  Just remember read the label and look out for 100% Vegetable oil.
